We would familiarize in this article about the features of Blogger and WordPress along with comparing them edge to edge.Blogger and WordPress both have their footprints since the initial boom for online blogging has become popular. They now have a tremendous growth in the blogging market. The one main feature both Blogger and WordPress provide in common with the blogging services is the management of free accounts with them.Wordpress is ahead in providing VIP hosting apart from the simple free accounts that it offers along with Blogger. This facility would be attractive for many bloggers who themselves might need it for various purposes. For example for those users who expect heavy traffic load on their sites with nearly 500000 page views just in a single month this special facility called VIP hosting will help a lot. These VIP accounts would start at $500 along with initial set up fee of nearly $600.With the help of premium features that WordPress has for its users, one would find it easy to add a particular domain to the account. Along with this, there are other facilities like extra storage space for the user to provide more information regarding his products.CSS customization available with WordPress makes the users site look attractive. Greater video capabilities will provide clarity of information for the customers when they see to the videos provided on the site. The main ability of the WordPress is to allow 35 users to be assigned on to one single blog. Now that we have a better understanding of WordPress let us now shift to understand Blogger facilities too. Blogger allows free blogging with an interface which is easy to use. A free blogger name is provided which includes your name in framing the domain name like yourname.blogger.com.Blogger has splendid features like customizable templates, video uploading facility and very impressive simple single click photos. As services are managed by Google, by which accounts creation can be done quickly and easily if a user has an existing account with Gmail. Owners can make money out of their creation, for the implementation of various ads through Google Adsense.Dozens of themes being offered by WordPress along with its integrated statistics and various sidebar widgets would attract the customers towards owning a domain with them. One facility that is missed by blogger which WordPress has in it, is the ability to facilitate for more than single page. WordPress can facilitate the creation of pages like, about page, home page, and contact page, so on.Finally altogether from this discussion, WordPress seems to be superior to blogger though blogger has its own demand for simplicity.

Blogging In Blogger

June 23, 2010 - 11:40 am No Comments

Blogger is one of the many options available to bloggers who are looking for free blog software. This website located at the following web address: http://www.blogger.com offers registered users the opportunity to publish their own blog free of charge. The website also has templates the blogger can use to create his blog and even enables bloggers to easily place Google advertisements on their blog and coordinates an AdSense account for the users so they can potentially earn a profit from their blog. This article will discuss the history of Blogger as well as the terms of service.

The History of Blogger

Blogger began in 1999 with a small group of friends in the San Francisco area who ran a company called Pyra Labs. These friends did not set out to create a network of bloggers but nevertheless Blogger emerged from their efforts. The three friends who developed bloggers were programmers who toiled away for others in an effort to fund their own endeavors. As previously mentioned a blog network was not their original goal but the friends were intrigued by the idea as it emerged and found others were interested too as their concept quickly took off and new members were joining everyday. Like most Internet entrepreneurs of this time period, they experienced setbacks but continued to persevere.

In 2002 Blogger was doing well but got an unexpected surprise when Google expressed interest in purchasing Pyra Labs. Google was interested in the upswing in the blogging community and the members of Pyra Lab sold their company enabling Google to take over the operation. Since taking over Google introduced the concept of AdSense advertising campaigns on blogs which has been generating profits for Google and bloggers alike. Blogger not only offers members templates to create a blog and voice their opinions on the Internet but also simplifies the process of placing AdSense advertisements on the blog.

Blogger Terms of Service

The Terms of Service of Blogger are susceptible to change but there are a few basic terms which users can expect to exist. The Terms of Service for Blogger provides explanations of items such as the services offered, description of proper use of the services, privacy policies, an explanation of intellectual property rights, cause for termination and information regarding the legal jurisdiction of the website. Members of Blogger are advised to carefully review these policies before becoming a member and to be sure they understand and agree to all of these terms. If the potential member is unsure about the meaning of one or more of the terms, he should contact Blogger to seek clarification on the Terms of Service.

Members of Blogger should also be aware that the Terms of Service may change and should review these terms periodically to ensure there have been no changes made which will adversely impact the member.

Members of Blogger should pay particular attention to the section of the Terms of Service which specify causes for termination of a member’s account. This information is important because it will help to prevent the member from inadvertently performing an action which may result in his account being terminated or suspended. Blogger is not required to inform the member of the infractions before suspending the account so a member will likely lose his account before he is even aware he has violated the Terms of Service agreement.

With Visitor Bloggers

June 21, 2010 - 7:52 pm No Comments

Owners of a successful blog that has a large following may sometimes have the need to use guest bloggers. An example of when this practice may be a good idea is when the owner of a popular blog will be unavailable to post new blog entries for an extended period of time. In this case the lack of blog updates may cause the blog to lose traffic so it would be prudent for the blog owner to make arrangements for a guest blogger or a series of guest bloggers to post new items during his absence. The blogger may also wish to announce the intention to use guest bloggers during this period of time to ensure loyal blog visitors are aware of the situation and that it is only temporary. This article will discuss aspects of using guest bloggers such as advertising for guest bloggers, selecting guest bloggers and compensating guest bloggers.

Advertising for Guest Bloggers

There are a number of locations where a blog owner can advertise for guest bloggers. Job boards specifically for bloggers or freelance writers are an excellent option for finding guest bloggers. Job boards for bloggers are frequently visited by experienced bloggers who are looking for new opportunities to blog for compensation. These bloggers may have specific experience with the subject matter of the blog or may simply be adept at creating interesting blogs on a variety of subjects. Job boards for freelance writers are another great option. These writers may not necessarily have experience blogging but they may have other writing experience that is useful. Blog owners should consider posting a detailed messaged specifying the type of work required and duration of the project and asking for clips from the writers which can be used to verify the writer’s skill level.

Blog owners may also wish to advertise for guest bloggers on message boards related to the subject of the blog. Visitors of this blog may not necessarily have writing experience but will likely be quite knowledgeable about the subject of the blog and therefore be capable of producing interesting and insightful blogs.

Selecting Guest Bloggers

Selecting a guest blogger should be done carefully to ensure the guest blogger is reliable and capable of producing articulate, informative and interesting blog posts. Blog owners who advertise for a guest blogger on job boards for bloggers and freelance writers should ask for clips demonstrating the writer’s ability to write blogs which are interesting and informative. When advertising on a message board for a guest blogger, the blog owner might want to consider using the applicant’s previous posts to evaluate his writing ability and knowledge of the subject matter. He should also consider the type of response the applicant’s message board postings typically elicit. This is important because it is a good indication of the type of response the blogs will elicit. Blog owners should also ask the applicants for references and should contact these references to obtain information about the bloggers work ethic and ability to complete projects.

Compensating Guest Bloggers

Blog owners should also carefully consider how they intend to compensate guest bloggers. This can be done in the form of financial compensation or through allowing the guest blogger to post a brief biography with a link to his personal website or blog at the conclusion of the blog post. The latter form of compensation is essentially free advertisement space for the guest blogger. The blog owner may also wish to compensate the guest blogger with a combination of money and free advertising space. Regardless of the method of compensation chosen the blog owner should discuss this with the guest blogger before work commences and should enter a written contract with the guest blogger which explicitly states the terms of the compensation to avoid disputes.

how do I get help with blogger? How do I copy and paste from my word processing program (or from where I posted the info elsewhere.)

June 20, 2010 - 2:19 pm No Comments

I have seen a few users mention that they are having issues pasting into the post editing window. I don’t know if Blogger changed the system to keep people from accidentally pasting from Word (and other word processing programs) or if it is just a glitch, but the fact is, you should NOT paste from Word to Blogger. There is a lot of hidden formatting and coding that conflicts with Blogger and I have seen it cause blogs to completely lock up or stop showing any posts at all.

If you need to compose your posts offline first, use a simple text editor like Notepad and paste only the text in using the Control C and Control V keys on your keyboard. Do any formatting you want to do using the Blogger interface tools. Please post your error code here.

B2evolution: the Software That Turns a Greenhorn Into a Seasoned Blogger

June 19, 2010 - 3:27 am No Comments

The blogging software that is enjoying the limelight for quite some times for now is the B2Evolution. Written in PHP, and supported by MySQL database, it is among those few web applications that every web host will recommend you for your website.

The beauty of this software lies in its comprehensive feature list that includes

• Multiple blogs

• Multiuser with different access levels

• Antispam tools

• Trackbacks and pingbacks

• Timezone handling

• RSS and ATOM feeds

• Image file organizer.

• It is also multilingual; a feature that can be attributed to its originator, Francois Planque—who was a Frenchman.

In addition to that, the latest version of B2 evolution has been enriched with many more interesting features:

One of the most talked about point in the new release is its parting with the feature of configuration file editing. From now on, all configuration tasks are going to be handled through the installer or administrative back-end.

In addition to that, this software allows an admin user to lock himself out permanently. What he needs to do is to redirecting the admin.php page to a nonexistent URL on the root domain.

Another important feature relates to the spam protection for which B2Evolution receives adieus. It is provided with community-wide spam filters. This helps the B2Eevolution sites aggregate and “tag” spammer IPs into a central blacklist. The other B2Eevolution blogs get benefited from this spam filtering.

Then, B2Evolution is famously packed with a fully skinnable interface. Traditional blog, knowledge base, bug tracker—-any type of skins can be easily downloaded and installed to render a new look and feel to your blog site.

It also offers localization into a number of language packs which can be easily downloaded. Already available languages are: Chinese, Czech, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish. Even if you can’t find your language, just use the localization toolkit to easily localize B2Evolution to your language. With B2evolution it’s really easy to translate to your own language too.

The software helps to integrate a truly efficient workflow.

How does it work? When a user posts an article, it can be assigned to an editor. Editor may then assign them to reviewers for final approval and then only the article is published on the site. Thus, the actual permissions and statuses remain with the site owner.

In its course of development, the B2Evolution also introduced 3rd party plugin features that allow further expansion in its feature list. Some of the most popular plugins from the users perspective are Textile, Auto-P, Greymatter, BB code, Texturize (text formatting plug-ins), and graphic smilies.

B2Evolution has built-in support for RSS 0.92, RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0, and Atom feeds for both posts and comments.

No matter whether you are going to step into the world of professional web publishing or just want to start a fun filled family blog, the comprehensive b2evolution platform can give you an easily installable, free, feature rich, extensible blogging solution. Unless with B2 Evolution, your transition from a novice to seasoned blogger could never have been so quick and smooth.

A Number of Approaches for Bloggers on Link Building

June 18, 2010 - 5:37 pm No Comments

The two main ingredients to rank highly in the search engines are that you must have good content and have lots of links pointing to you. For the vast majority of bloggers, writing outstanding content is not the problem. The problem is finding the best ways to build links to the blog, as well as building deeplinks to the blog posts themselves.

Thousands of self-proclaimed “link building experts” will try to sell you costly ebooks showing you the greatest places to build your links. The main reason this article was written is to show you that there is no reason to buy your way to a great link building campaign when you can do it all totally free. As a prologue, you should know that the most common free link building strategies such as link exchanges or linkfarms can be dangerous to your sites search engine rankings. For more details go to www.your-own-blog.com. As a good way to judge whether or not a link building technique will be dangerous to your site or not is to imagine if that link would be placed there if the search engines didn’t exist. If you were not adding your link to a site for the sole purpose that Google would find it, would you still add it?

With the prelude out of the way, lets move on. Building links to your blog is a lot different than building links to a static site. According to most people who own blogs, it is hundred of times easier. On your blog, you can build tons of links to hundreds of different pages, which you cannot do on a static site. Blogs are also updated on a daily basis, meaning the search engines crawl through them for hours and rank them higher with very little extra work. Your link building campaigns will be far more reaching than if you were on a static site. Every single post you make on your blog has a chance to gain tons of social media links which will result in higher search engine placement and more traffic. The more traffic, the more money you make!

After spending many hours searching the internet for places to build links for blogs, the best place you should focus your blog’s link building campaigns are on social media sites. These sites generally have a huge amount of visitors and the content that is promoted ranks heavily on the search engines. You are allowed to submit every blog post you write to every single social media site, thus building many links for every single blog post you write. This will allow you to have many deeplinks which will raise the authority of your blogs main domain. For more information login to www.blog-and-png.com. In the end, you will be able to rank higher for your blog posts without doing any extra marketing. Stop paying for bad quality ebooks when with a few minutes every day you can submit your blog posts to social media websites for free and receive far more benefit. If the social media sites like your blog posts, it may even make their front page resulting in thousands more visitors and hundreds more links. The result of this can easily snowball into reaching wide new audiences and rank for longtail keywords that you never thought possible. Give it a try because after all, you have nothing to lose

Worlds Oldest Blogger Blazes a Path for Others to Follow

June 17, 2010 - 6:36 am No Comments

Right to the last the oldest blogger in the world was making entries. Olive Riley, of Broken Hill, Australia, died peacefully in July, at a fabulous 108 years-old. Though she didn’t have the strength to get out of bed, she was still managed to peck away at the keyboard of her computer. “It doesn’t require much strength to be a blobber,” said Olive.

The Life of Riley, received more than a million hits in the 18 months it was live. Olive was the only resident in the retirement home to operate a website and a ‘blob’. A filmmaker of a documentary on the life and times of Olive Riley, Mike Rubbo said, “Olive was introduced to blogging by and an older friend who had taken up blogging.”

Unfortunately Olive did not have the strength to speak on a US talk show, when invited to do so, though her fans came from all over the world.

Perhaps we all take ourselves too seriously, along with our Google rating and the number of hits our blob gets. Maybe we could learn some lessons from Olive.

Before she dropped off to sleep, Olive liked to do her thinking. Perhaps this was the key to her success. Some experts (whoever they may claim to be), say our brain works sharper and better at night than during the day. Perhaps like Olive, we would be more successful if we ‘blobbed’ at night. Or at least got our ideas and motivation for blogging, in the night hours (which is something a lot of us do).

What would your results be if you blogged every week for the next thirty years? Olive made 70 entries on her life experiences, in just eighteen months. Experiences that covered two World Wars, a world depression, the advent of motor cars and large commercial planes, electricity and the exciting world of computers. Olive was also employed as a cook on a station in outback Queensland and a barmaid in Sydney.

Now you are a lot younger more energetic than Olive, so say you write 5 blogs a week, for 50 weeks of the year. That is a total of 250 per year, or 2500 in 10 years, 5000 in 20 years, and 7500 in 30 years. That’s around 2,250,000 words.

What if each of your blogs received a mere 500 hits? That would be a total of 3,750,000 hits in 30 years. What if you could score an average income of just $1 per blog? You would become a $3.75 millionaire in just a short thirty years. Of course you would have the money out at interest during that time so maybe that would make you a???

So what’s in this for you? Don’t ever quit. Most people give up just when it is about to get going. You never know when you’re once in a lifetime Blue Moon Opportunity will bring home the bacon, (or is that meant to be the champagne).

Blogger: – Let Us Focus on the Ways You Can Make Money on the Web

June 16, 2010 - 2:25 pm No Comments

Saying that blogs are a dime a dozen is the understatement of the millennium. With over 112 million blogs monitored by Technocratic, which apparently does not include the over 72 million Chinese blogs and other non English blogs that escaped Technocratic radar, blogging is serious business indeed.
Or at least, it would be serious money when you use blogs to make money on the Web! After all, not every Web busybody monetizes their blogs in the belief that monetization equals prostitutions. But that is digressing.
Instead, let us focus on the ways you can make money on the Web specifically by selling your thoughts and by selling your blog. Here is how.
Sell Your Thoughts
And the drama behind it. That is how the likes of the Go Fug Yourself girls and Perez Hilton blogger make money by putting drama into otherwise mundane matters like fashion faux pas and celebrity gossips for help visit www.feed-reader-links.com. Of course, you can be as helpful as you want on topics like how to instructional blogs on everything from apples to zebras, celibacy to sex, and whatever niche you want to tap into.
And this is where you can make money on the Web niche blogging. Your market will be people who are either fanatical about the topic or into special research on the topic. With the millions of people logging on to the Internet every day, you can find more than a handful of people who will patronize your sites and the advertisers therein.
For example, Jay Brewer launched his blog on a very specific subject: one cup coffee makers. Wonder of wonders! There are people out there who love the topic and soon enough, advertisers came knocking on his online door.
Add in affiliate marketing and featured advertisements and you have more ways to make money on the Web using just your writing savvy and sassy approach to the blog niche! You need not even start big; instead, focus on garnering attention to your blog, sustaining the interest and offering fresh perspectives on old topics for help visit www.instant-blog-and-ping.com. And when you do, watch advertisers trooping to your site! Learning technical requirements and terms will help, too.
Sell Your Blog
If you get tired of blogging about the same topic for months on end and you have run out of fresh ideas and perspectives, then it is time to sell the drama. Don t abandon the blog because you will be putting it at the mercy of online copycats and they will earn money based on your ideas! No can do.
Instead, you can go to the Sitepoint Marketplace where you can participate in the online auctions of Web sites and domain names. This way, you can take a nice profit from the sale of your well established blog while relinquishing control over its maintenance.
Before you go about selling your blog as a means to make money on the Web, remember these selling points, which are not by any chance comprehensive and complete:
Domain Name, including name recognition and value
Date Blog Established
Technorati, Alexa, Google, Yahoo rankings
Web traffic statistics for at least a year, including feeds and unique visitors
Number of posts, articles and comments
Inventory of web assets
Contractual obligations
Indeed, selling your blog can take up time but the money you earn during its successful run and its sale can compensate for the trouble.
Just remember that the Web is the new global marketplace. When you take its dynamics to heart, you will discover to your bank accounts delight that indeed, you can and you will make money on the Web!
